Lieutenant Colonel Dmytro Lapa has assumed command of the 115th Mechanized Brigade, according to an announcement made on the brigade’s official social media channels.
Lapa, a native of Kremenchuk district in Poltava Oblast, previously served at the headquarters of the 21st Army Corps and, before that, with the 116th Territorial Defense Brigade. He succeeds Lieutenant Colonel Denys Bilyk, who had led the brigade since 2024.
About the brigade
The 115th Mechanized Brigade is a formation of Ukraine’s Ground Forces, established in Cherkasy Oblast in early March 2022, shortly after the onset of Russia’s full-scale invasion. The brigade’s soldiers have taken part in key battles, including the defense of Sievierodonetsk, operations near Donetsk Airport, and fighting around Ocheretyne — where the unit was falsely accused of abandoning its positions and enabling a Russian breakthrough by the founder of the government-affiliated DeepState project.
